Turn Your Car Into A Mobile Rockville Office If you are a busy Great Falls home based business owner, you may have noticed that your work-at-home job has turned into a work-in-car job. I have been operating a direct marketing business out of my Rockville home since May 2009, but I spend a considerable amount of time on the road in the 20850 zip code area.

Next I had to tackle the little stuff: paper clips, sticky notes, and pens. I found that cup holders can be great organizers.

Something not so well known in Rockville is that the dirt itself contains beneficial bacteria that can aid in depression, cognitive functioning, and even in fighting some cancers.

Working with soil in Rockville – digging, pulling weeds, harvesting vegetables – exposes Maryland kids and parents to a strain of bacteria called mycobacterium vaccae. Recent research reveals that m. vaccae triggers the release of seratonin, which can elevate mood and reduce stress.

In one study, two groups of mice were fed peanut butter sandwiches before finding their way through a difficult maze. One of the groups had m. vaccae spread on the sandwiches. The mice that ingested the bacteria ran the maze twice as fast and exhibited half as many stress behaviors as the mice that didn’t have the bacteria.

Think of Rockville kids in the ‘good ole’ days,’ running around on unpaved roads, playing in meadows, forests, and dirt piles, and half of the time probably bare-foot. It is quite a different childhood than the sanitized version that exists in our society today. Children not only need more time out-of-doors, but they need to get dirty! Let your Rockville neighbors hear you yell: ‘Kids, go outside and get dirty!’

No Kensington parent wants their child to be exposed to Internet pornography, however, this tragedy occurs everyday. Why is there such a disconnect?

Some Kensington parents may not realize that their young child can navigate the computer like a pro. Others may believe that their child would never go looking for inappropriate material.

If you think your Great Falls kids are too young to worry about it, don’t be so sure. Maryland parents continue to report that they found out too late that their child was exposed. I urge you to take precautions now.

With Internet pornography increasing everyday and young people succumbing to this cybermonster, Great Falls parents wonder what they can do to prevent this from ever happening to their kids.

This advice bears repeating: Kensington parents should put the computer in an open area so that it can be monitored. In addition, many forms of web protection are available for free. Though it is time-consuming, Kensington parents would be wise to only allow their child use the Internet with Mom or Dad present.

Talk to your kids and ask them if they have encountered Internet pornography. Ask them what they did or what they would do in such a situation. Though this is a secondary concern: explain to them that certain web pages and ‘pop ups’ contain viruses that can damage the computer. Open communication is essential.

If your Kensington children have encountered pornography, perhaps at a friend’s house, emphasize its destructive nature and teach them that what they saw is degrading to men, women, and healthy relationships. Internet pornography is a plague with many Kensington victims, including children. It is up to Kensington parents and youth leaders to help Kensington children be safe online.

Homemade Activities For Rockville Kids

It shouldn’t cost a fortune to get your Rockville kids fun, educational toys. Here at the Rockville Children’s Health Blog we want to provide parents with some ideas to keep their young children’s minds healthy. This homemade activity for toddlers uses an egg carton and encourages development of fine motor skills.

You’ll need:
Empty egg carton
Plastic Easter eggs, in assorted colors
Card stock, or other heavy paper
Markers
Puff balls, in assorted colors

Many of these supplies are probably already in your Great Falls area homes. For the rest, they can easily be found at any Garrett Park, Alexandria, or Kensington dollar store.

Great Falls parents can take the card stock, cut it into cards, and draw an egg shape on each card. Then color each egg in a different color-combination. Have your kids draw a card, and when they see they color combination, they’ll take the plastic eggs from the carton and assemble the same combination from the eggs.

Your Rockville children will have fun while keeping their minds active and healthy as they practice learning their colors and copying color patterns.

Another great activity for Great Falls kids is to have them put colored puff balls inside the same color of egg. For safety, make sure the puff balls aren’t a choking hazard.

As a parent of active Rockville children, I’m sure you’re always on the lookout for places where germs lurk, and you probably know that toothbrushes have the potential to grow a lot of bacteria. However, there are some simple rules you can follow in your Kensington area home to keep your child’s toothbrush (and your kid’s mouth) as healthy as possible.

One of the best ways to limit bacterial growth on a toothbrush is to allow it to dry completely between uses. This is best done by storing the toothbrush in a toothbrush holder on the counter, not tucked away in a drawer where air flow is limited.

A toothbrush holder is superior to a cup because it’s important that neighboring toothbrushes don’t touch and share germs.

Air drying toothbrushes is easy when you purchase two for each child at your nearest Great Falls drugstore. Teach your kids to alternate between the two so they each have more time to dry out all the way.
